Hello Supporters!
The response to Animal Victory’s inaugural Love Box campaign has been overwhelming! We learned quite a bit about the pets of the homeless and it has without question touched our hearts. When we started this project we had no idea if you would be receptive. We jumped in with both feet hoping for the best and we asked you to help us. Little did we know you would bombard us with donations and comments and love. Every donation for a Love Box and every comment that came through continually reminded us of how fortunate we are to have you by our side.
We were thrilled to be able to work with two expert non-profit organizations, Lori Rich from Taking it to the Streets with Lori and Shira, and Basic Needs Foundation, who work on a day-to-day basis with people on the streets and their pets. Because of you, these agencies were able to provide hundreds of items in need for people and pets this holiday season, as well as provide much-needed veterinarian services. In the beginning, our “Love Boxes” soon became “Love Bags” when we were informed of the cost of boxes as opposed to bags as well as the inconvenience of carrying boxes on the streets as opposed to bags. In any event, in addition to distributing the Love Bags, funds were earmarked for veterinary care, spay and neuter surgeries, and hotels for the homeless and their pets urgently in need of somewhere to go during inclement weather or while recuperating from surgery. We had so much fun working on this project and we could not have succeeded without you! There are numerous videos and photos we have posted on our Facebook page. Many of the photos can be viewed below.
We really want you to know how much love you have brought to so many people and their pets living on the streets.

“It may not be the lap of luxury, but the lap of a homeless person is one that’s available 24/7 for their pet. In return, the person without a home gets unconditional love, and on those cold nights on the streets, even shared bodily warmth. In fact, the pet’s love for their owner may be the only true love they have in their life. It can give them purpose, and with that comes a desire to be there to care for their pet. It can even make the difference for a person to choose sobriety over being in an altered state of mind from drugs or alcohol.” Mark Goldstein, DVM. Doctor Goldstein has also experienced many “street people” using what precious few dollars they have to seek veterinary care for their beloved pets before they would spend it on themselves.
This year Animal Victory is providing holiday “Love Boxes” đź’– for the dogs and cats of the homeless.đź’• Love boxes cost $30.00 each and include some of the following; dog and cat food, snacks, pet toys, harnesses for walking, bowls, blankets, socks, hats, raincoats, and leash leads.
Additional funds will be used for veterinary care and larger items to protect pets, such as tents, tarps, pet strollers, sleeping bags, and camp pillows.
Just $30.00 pays for one Love Box, but as little as $2.00 helps.
Here is a little update on our Love Box campaign with our selected partner, Taking It To The Streets with Lori and Shira. We will share much more information as we move forward. These photos are a sneak preview of some of the items that have been received, as well as a few of the homeless people’s pets that Lori and Shira help provide for on a daily basis. We are thrilled to be working with Lori and Shira; we couldn’t have selected more experienced compassionate people to participate in this project with us. Between Covid, and holiday shipping-related delays, our partners are looking at the first week of January to start distributing. The items are slowly coming in and we are hoping that the rest will arrive within the next week or so. As soon as everything arrives, the Love Boxes will be put together and then distributed to pets and their people. What you see in the photo above are a few of the things the recipients will find in their Love Boxes. More to come!
